Saturday, Jayla and I had the privilege of being in the company of the Director of Missions for our church association and his wife. They came by BeEncourage Resale Ministry to visit and pray. As we discussed all that God was doing in their lives, our lives, the churches, and the association, they encouraged and taught us a lot.
One thing I learned, he referred to it as a Holy Spot. We were discussing children and parenting, and I shared my parenting philosophy: if I don’t teach my children anything else, I will teach them how to have a relationship with God. I will make many mistakes, but if they have a relationship with God, he can fix everything that I mess up. Anyhow, as the four of us talked, he taught my daughter to value my philosophy and ensured her that she would appreciate it later in life. I mentioned that she is growing and learning because one day when I nervous about something, I don’t remember what; she reminded me that I could trust God and that she was praying for me. He called that moment in my life a Holy Spot, a moment when God allows us to see some growth of a seed we have planted, a moment that we don’t want to and won’t forget.
I had another Holy Spot moment last night. My brothers-in-law came to our house to help with a task I had. While there, they built the kids and I fire. As I sat at the fire talking with my babies and looking up at the stars, I thanked God for that moment. When there was a moment of silence, my four-year-old son asked me if I wanted to pray with him. Of course, my answer was yes. He extended his hands to hold Jayla’s and mine and began to pray. In closing his prayer, he said God is awesome. I couldn’t agree more!
Today spend time thinking about the Holy Spots in your life. Thank God for them! Continue to plant seeds so that you may have more of them.
