Recently, I went on a thirty day without any meat or getting on social media fast. I was fasting to die down to my flesh, hear God clearer, and I also wanted to feel healthier. I thought this should be easy; I can continue to eat my food and take out the meat. I knew I was going to see results!
Well, as time went by, I was not getting the results I intended. Some days I felt worst. I asked, “Lord, what am I doing wrong?” So, I hopped on Facebook while I was fasting, and a video of a lady named Christina popped up. She was telling her testimony about her two 21 day Daniel Fast. The first one she did, she failed or didn’t see results, but the second one, she received a breakthrough.
She stated the difference was the second time around, she had a game plan, and she prepared. The second time around, she gathered scriptures that pertained to her situation and turned them into prayers. She mentioned that praying God back His word is more effective because God’s word does not lie. Next, she planned simple meals, but they were all healthy and consisted of fruits and vegetables. Lastly, she devoted most of her time to God. She kept her outside conversations short and simple.
Therefore, the second time around, her results were amazing! It was not because she gave up food but because she filled and replaced those things with better nutrients physically, mentally, and spiritually. So it HIT ME!! We often want to change and give up something, but what are we replacing those things with? Are we filling ourselves up with Netflix, social media, and junk? Let’s take the time to evaluate what we are eating in every area of our lives to see what kind of fruit we are producing.
