I often have a conversation with someone who is struggling to find their purpose. They find it difficult to understand what God has for them to do. I too felt this way for a long time. However, this feeling and thought process is a distraction. We get so focused on trying to figure our what we should be doing that we don’t see the value of our everyday consistency.
God never tells us to figure out our purpose. He never tells us to decide what our mission will be. God never says you will not be happy or whole until you find your purpose. He instead tells us to believe. He tells us to be obedient. He tells us to trust.
Titus :1-3 says, Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ to further the faith of God’s elect and their knowledge of the truth that leads to godliness— 2 in the hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the beginning of time, 3 and which now at his appointed season he has brought to light through the preaching entrusted to me by the command of God our Savior. In these three verses, Paul teaches us his and our reason for living. We are to proclaim the faith and live in godliness, which is done by knowing the truth—thus resulting in spiritual maturity.
If you want to know your purpose, ask yourself to what are you devoted? Do you live a life willing to share your faith, live and teach truth for all to see?
