Complacent Faith

Why is it a bad thing not to have it together all the time? Why does society insist on only highlighting what is perfect and good all the time? Is it never ok to say today is a bad day without the guilt or the fear of weakness or negative thoughts being attached? We live in a world where no one posts a lousy picture. Very few say to the world I don’t have this figured out.

I found myself falling into this trap, like many others. I can’t be weak. I can’t make a mistake. I can’t be wrong. That is not only miserable but impossible. I have many bad days. I have many exhausting days. Days when I question am I doing the right thing at the right time. Yet, I realize society will always go against God. Scripture has never instructed us to have it together. To understand all the steps that need to be made. We are called to trust and obey.

My word for us today is that our challenges are too small. If we are not being challenged to depend on God daily because we don’t have it together, we are complacent. We have stop putting our faith in action and are only going to God, not just in religious acts but with our whole heart, when we feel as if we are in a crisis.

Are you pretending for society, or are you indeed in pursuit of daily dependency on God?
