The Spirit you received does not make you slaves so that you live in fear again, rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, Abba, Father. Romans 8:15
The word Abba is Aramaic for father but is better understood as daddy or papa because the word expresses an intimate and personal relationship. Once we become believers in Jesus Christ, we are adopted into the family of God. Not because we did anything to be worthy of the family but because He loves us. Think about your children. Did your kids have to do anything spectacular in the womb for you to love, provide, and nurture them? No! They existed and developed. In return for our unconditional love for them, they love us back.
We love because He first loved us. 1 John 4:19
A breakdown happens when we attach the flaws of our earthy father to God. As a result, many Christians live as orphans, not accepting the unconditional love, protection, and provision from our Heavenly Father. They think they are on their own and have to do everything on their own when God calls us to live like little children of the King of the universe.
How do you live like a little child of the King?
- You must believe everything that your father says (the word of God). How many of us have believed in the most absurd things because our flawed parents have told us to (Santa Claus, the tooth fairy, etc.), but we question what God says to us in His word?
- Accept God’s, unconditional love.
- Love Him back.
Do you live life as the child of the King of the Universe or as an orphan?
