Why?

What is your why? Why do you get up every morning? Why do you go to work? Why do you go to school? Why do you care for those around you? What is your why? It is so easy to get caught up in doing that you lose the fire, the passion, or the motivation for the task you are to complete. The reason is because of our why. Maybe your why is the wrong why or you have forgotten your why. Or maybe your why has changed or needs to change. As God reveals his plan for our lives, our current why may no longer apply. Today I want you to ask yourself, why do I do this thing? Is your why enough?

What is my why? I am convinced my life here on this earth is nothing, no matter how long I live. If I only had six months to live, I would want to be doing exactly what I am doing now. What’s important to you? For me, it’s loving God and others, learning and spreading the word of God, meeting the needs of others, creating ways for my children to help others while preparing them for a future without my husband and I, and teaching my children to do all of the same as they grow in Christ.

“Show me, Lord, my life’s end
and the number of my days;
let me know how fleeting my life is.
5 You have made my days a mere handbreadth;
the span of my years is as nothing before you.
Everyone is but a breath,
even those who seem secure.
