I have learned along my walk with Christ that each step I take in obedience to Him, He reveals the next. There has never been a time in my life as of yet, and I don’t believe there will ever be when God has given me a task to complete without instructions. He has also never given me all the instructions at once. Over time I have realized that God will show us how to bring glory and honor to His name through our faith, acting on his word as if it were true, as we consult Him.
We can only hear these instructions by being in His presence. When we spend time in is the presence, or in His Word, we learn step-by-step the timing and instructions He wants us to act on in full obedience. When we begin working on what God tells us to do, we can feel and think of positives and negatives. The most common of the negatives come from the source of doubt. We begin to ask questions like: Is this really what God wants me to do? How will I be able to do this? Can I handle this? What if it doesn’t work? Lord, can you show me another sign? The questions in themselves are not wrong. It is when we allow the doubt that these questions come from keep us from being obedient to God.
It is essential to ask God the necessary questions to ensure we do not act on our own accord. However, when He speaks, we need to listen and do. It is ok to work in fear as long as you act on what God has said; He will ease those fears. Fear can be a sign that God wants us to rely on Him. Those feelings of inadequacy can be God, saying, “you don’t have to be adequate; you just have to be willing.”
When God calls us to something bigger than us or our potential, it is for many different reasons. Some are:
- To bring Him glory and honor. When we are a willing vessel, God works through us to bring about notable works that we know we could have never done apart from Him. Thus we can only boast about God.
- He deepens our faith and trust in Him. The more we see Him work in our lives, the more we realize He is trustworthy and can be trusted with all areas of our lives.
- Our lives become a witness to others. When we act on God’s words, His power will be revealed in our lives. Others will be able to see that we are in the presence of God. Some may come to know God through our obedience.
With all that being said, I want to share my next step in obedience with you all. On October 6th, 2020, 10 am until 6 pm, Bencourage Resale Ministry will be having its grand opening.
