What is Gods’ will?

On my journey of faith I have learned the value of asking questions. As well as the value of seeking God for the answers to those questions. Today as you read through this devotional seek to do a heart exam. Look for what God is saying to you through the many questions that are presented.

What is the difference between Gods will and our own?

When do you normally seek to do Gods’ will?  All the time? or When you are faced with life altering scenarios?

What’s the difference between daily routine choices like what shirt to wear, what store to go to, and what we might consider to be long term life changing choices such as what college to attend, take the job or don’t etc?

Why do we not put as much emphasis on what we would consider small decisions as we do big ones?

What is the difference?

What does this mean?

Why do you think we struggle with trying to figure out the difference between our will and Gods?

The answer to all of the above questions is that our focus is misplaced. We focus on trying to figure out Gods will instead of focusing on God. When we shift our focus from seeking and being in an intimate relationship with God to understanding a portion of his will we forget all of the spiritual truths we have been taught and have hidden in our hearts.

What does Being in relationship with God look like for you?

It’s simply obedience. We show God our love by our level of trust in Him. God will often show us the mountain top (meaning all the good things to come as a result of our obedience) or he will show us the path and not the mountain top.

Why do you think this is so?

To keep us from being boastful in our own abilities and to keep us dependent on Christ. By doing so he keeps us seeking and growing in our knowledge of who He is. The more we seek and grow in our understanding of God the more intimate our relationship with God becomes. As a result we are more concerned with understanding God than we are with understanding ways.

Meditate on: I am the vine; you are the benches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

Application: Seek an intimate relationship with Christ above all else.

Prayer: Father please help me to understand the your will for my life is to be in relationship with you. I trust that you will order all other steps. In Jesus name amen.
